Michael, from Strathaven Airfield in Scotland, on a Coast to Coast flight across America in his Quantum 912 G-BZIM.
Michael made it to Reno/Carson/Lake Tahoe today. We have been communicating about getting over the Sierra’s. It was a ‘No Go’ yesterday, blowing 30 to 40 over the passes. Today it was 15 to 20 with low ceilings 10,000 MSL.
I told Michael it would be generally bumpy AND low ceilings. He decided to go for it and landed about 11:00 am this morning. It was bumpy and low ceilings. That is dedication.
He said it was not the bumpiest of the trip, there has been worse somewhere from the East Coast to the West Coast. We spent the rest of the day changing oil and some minor maintenance items before he embarks on the rest of his journey. Safe travels!
